Sberbank CIB has begun preliminary negotiations with the International Medical Cluster Foundation at Skolkovo and potential residents of the cluster on possible forms and goals of investment. Sberbank CIB is examining projects of medical centers under the management of the specialized operators in the cluster.

"The investment banking department of Sberbank CIB is considering options for participating in this unique project as a financial investor and partner of the International Medical Cluster. We are currently conducting preliminary negotiations with the International Medical Cluster Foundation and potential residents of the cluster on possible forms and goals of investment," said a spokesman for the agency.

He noted that Sberbank CIB is now examining projects of the medical centers under the management of the cluster's specialized operators. "If we have reliable operating partners and strategic co-investors, we are ready to consider financing a number of the cluster's projects. We would like to be one of the key financial partners of the cluster," the bank representative said.

About the cluster

The International Medical Cluster is the largest medical infrastructure project in Russia. It was established and is supervised by the Government of Moscow. The cluster is being constructed on the premises of Skolkovo Innovation Center on an area of 57 hectares.

The authorities are hoping that the cluster will make a significant contribution to healthcare of Moscow and the Moscow Region.

Uniquely to this project, medical clinics from countries that are part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) do not require additional certification in the RF to provide medical assistance and use medicines and equipment on the premises of the cluster if they have all the permits for it in their own countries.

In 2017, the International Medical Cluster Foundation launched an international road show aimed at attracting medical operators and investors. It is planned that, by 2029, the cluster will host 15 specialized clinics, an educational center, an R&D center and the infrastructure necessary to house patients and medical staff.
